First off, let me say I believe in God. However everything fed to us in organized religon is not always true and those who question it are simply smeared as someone who has "no faith."
What is faith? In the dictionary faith is defined as:
1.confidence or trust in a person or thing
2.belief that is not based on proof
There are other definitions also, but I will concentrate on these two. As I stated earlier, I do have faith. I have faith that there is a God who is the Creator of everything around us. According to the definitions above I have faith. I have cofidence in a person or thing...God. I believe in something that is not based on proof. So why is it that when we question details in the Bible, we are accused of not having faith?
Thousands and thousands of years before Christianity, there is evidence of carvings and writings in which man has admired and worshiped the sun. It is no wonder why. The sun brought warmth, light, allowed crops to grow. Without the sun, there would be no life on earth. The light of the sun also protected people from the predators of the night. Man has also been very aware of the stars in the night sky. The mapping of stars allowed man to use them as navigation points, and to anticiapte events, such as full moons or solar eclipes. Much like land is mapped to help people get from one point to another, so were the stars. Stars were grouped into constellations. The 12 major constellations over the course of a year make the wheel or the cross of the Zodiac. The Zodiac also represents the 4 seasons, the 12 months and the equinoxes and the solstices of a year.
